Short answer: Nomad's Egypt eSIM is a good product at a low price. On 5 October 2026 its unlimited plans cost $14, $21, $27 and $35 for 3, 5, 7 and 10 days, with 2 GB a day at full speed and 1 Mbps after that, on the Orange and Vodafone networks. That is cheaper than us at each of those four durations, and more data per day. Nomad sells no unlimited plan for 1 day, 15 days or 30 days, it lists two Egyptian networks where we list three, and it delivers through an app as well as by e-mail. We sell a competing eSIM, so read this page knowing that. Every figure comes from Nomad's own page and is given as published.
Update, 13 October 2026. All seven sellers were read again on 13 October. Only Airalo had changed: its unlimited plans went from €26.00 to €26.50 for 5 days, from €32.00 to €32.50 for 10 days and from €82.50 to €83.00 for 30 days. The Airalo figures on this page are now those of 13 October; the other sellers' prices had not moved since they were last read. Nomad's dollar prices are unchanged; the euro amounts quoted from its page data move with the exchange rate (7 days: €24.00 on 8 October, €24.09 on 13 October).
Update, 8 October 2026. Nomad's prices were read again and had not changed. Two more sellers were read that day. In euros Nomad is still the cheapest from 3 to 10 days; Ubigi's 7-day unlimited plan costs €27.00, with 5 GB a day. Maya Mobile, whose page displays dollars as Nomad's does, is lower: $9.99 for 3 days and $19.99 for 7 days, for a global plan that does not name its Egyptian network. See our seven-seller comparison.
Who Nomad is
Nomad is a travel eSIM seller with a website and a mobile app. Like every seller in this market, us included, it does not own a mobile network in Egypt. It sells access to Egyptian operators' networks through roaming agreements, and its Egypt page names them: Orange and Vodafone.
Its Egypt page offers two families of plans: unlimited plans sold by number of days, and fixed packs of 1 GB to 20 GB. It also sells regional plans that include Egypt, which we do not cover here.
Nomad's unlimited plans for Egypt
| Duration | Price displayed (US dollars) | Price in the page's data for its euro option |
|---|---|---|
| 3 days | $14.00 | €12.44 |
| 5 days | $21.00 | €18.66 |
| 7 days | $27.00 | €24.00 |
| 10 days | $35.00 | €31.11 |
Two explanations are needed to read this table correctly.
The currency. When we opened Nomad's Egypt page, in English and in French, it displayed prices in US dollars. The page's own data also carries an amount in euros for each plan, for its currency selector. Those are the euro figures above. They are Nomad's numbers, not a conversion by us. We did not go through its checkout, so we cannot tell you the exact amount your bank will be charged: confirm it on the payment page.
The daily allowance. The page's general explanation says that after the daily high-speed allocation you continue “at a throttled speed of 512kbps”. But the details attached to each unlimited Egypt plan say something more generous: “2GB/day at 4G/5G. 1 Mbps after 2GB”. We take the plan's own details as the reference, since they are specific to Egypt, and we mention the other sentence so that you know both exist. If the exact reduced speed matters to you, ask Nomad's support before buying.
There is no unlimited plan for a single day, and none longer than 10 days. For two weeks or a month, Nomad's answer is a fixed pack.
Nomad's fixed packs
| Data | Validity | Price displayed | Euro amount in the page's data |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 GB | 7 days | $6.00 | €5.33 |
| 3 GB | 30 days | $12.00 | €10.67 |
| 5 GB | 30 days | $18.00 | €16.00 |
| 10 GB | 30 days | $28.00 | €24.89 |
| 20 GB | 30 days | $37.00 | €32.89 |
These packs are among the cheapest ways to get a little data for Egypt on the pages we read. 1 GB for a week at $6 is enough for maps and messages if your hotel has working Wi-Fi. 20 GB for 30 days at $37 is far below the price of any 30-day unlimited plan, ours included (€86.00).
The difference with an unlimited plan is what happens at the end: a fixed pack stops when its gigabytes are used, and you buy an add-on. An unlimited plan slows down for the rest of the day and starts again at full speed the next day. Some travellers like the certainty of a counter; others do not want to think about it on holiday.
What “unlimited” means at Nomad, and at the others
No seller gives full speed without limit. Each publishes, or does not publish, an amount per day at full speed and a speed afterwards. On 5 October 2026:
- Nomad: 2 GB a day, then 1 Mbps.
- Airalo: 3 GB a day, then 1 Mbps.
- Saily: 3 GB a day, then 1 Mbps.
- Holafly: no figure; its page says a fair usage policy may reduce speed for no more than one day.
- eSIM Égypte (us): about 1 GB a day, then 512 Kbps.
Ours is the smallest allowance of the five that publish a figure (Ubigi states 5 GB a day), and the lowest reduced speed. At 512 Kbps, messaging, maps, e-mail and ordinary browsing keep working; video does not play well. At 1 Mbps, standard-definition video is usually watchable. If you expect to go past one gigabyte on most days, that difference is real, and Nomad gives you twice our full-speed data for less money on a short trip. We explain our own rule in what “unlimited” really means.
Networks: two with Nomad, three with us
Nomad's page names Orange and Vodafone for Egypt, and its plan data lists both as 4G LTE. Its marketing text speaks of “4G/5G”. Egypt's operators launched commercial 5G in June 2025, so 5G does exist there; Nomad's own plan data, though, lists LTE and 4G for both networks. We sell our own plans as 4G LTE and say so.
Our supplier's catalogue lists three operators for our Egypt plans: Vodafone Egypt, Orange Egypt and e& Egypt. In Cairo, Giza, Luxor or the Red Sea resorts, one good network is enough and you will not notice a difference. A third network matters at the edges: desert roads, inner Sinai, stretches of the Nile between towns, where one operator has a tower and another does not. Two networks is already better than Airalo's one or Holafly's one.
Nomad against us, line by line
| Nomad | eSIM Égypte | |
|---|---|---|
| Full-speed data per day | 2 GB, then 1 Mbps | About 1 GB, then 512 Kbps |
| Unlimited durations | 3, 5, 7 and 10 days | 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 days |
| Fixed data packs | 1 GB to 20 GB | None |
| Networks listed for Egypt | Orange and Vodafone | Vodafone, Orange and e& |
| Hotspot | “Nomad's eSIMs support tethering / hotspot” | Included on every plan, from the same daily allowance |
| Phone number | Data only for the Egypt plans, in the page's data | Data only |
| When the plan starts | At the first connection to the network, or automatically 60 days after purchase | At the first connection to an Egyptian network |
| Delivery | QR code in the Nomad app and by e-mail | QR code on the confirmation page and by e-mail; no app, no account |
| Currency shown | US dollars by default; other currencies in the page's data | Euros |
| Site and support language | English and French pages | French and English; a small team answering by e-mail |
A word on the last two lines. Nomad is a large international seller with an app in several languages. We are a small specialist that sells Egypt, in French and in English, and answers its own customers by e-mail. Neither is better in itself; they suit different buyers.
Prices: Nomad against the four others
Unlimited plans, euros, read on 5 October 2026 from each seller's own Egypt page. Lowest price per row in bold; a dash means no unlimited plan of that length.
| Duration | eSIM Égypte | Nomad | Airalo | Holafly | Saily |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 day | €6.50 | — | — | €6.90 | — |
| 3 days | €18.00 | €12.44 | €18.00 | €18.90 | — |
| 5 days | €26.00 | €18.66 | €26.50 | €26.90 | — |
| 7 days | €33.00 | €24.00 | €29.50 | €33.90 | — |
| 10 days | €36.00 | €31.11 | €32.50 | €36.90 | €31.99 |
| 15 days | €46.00 | — | €45.00 | €46.90 | €43.49 |
| 30 days | €86.00 | — | €83.00 | €90.50 | €79.99 |
- 1 day: Nomad sells none. We are €6.50, Holafly €6.90.
- 3, 5, 7 and 10 days: Nomad is the cheapest of the sellers priced in euros; Maya Mobile, priced in dollars like Nomad's page, is lower at 3 and 7 days. Against us it is lower by €5.56, €7.34, €9.00 and €4.89.
- 15 days: Nomad sells no unlimited plan. Saily is €43.49, Airalo €45.00, we are €46.00, Holafly €46.90.
- 30 days: no unlimited plan at Nomad. Saily is €79.99, Airalo €83.00, we are €86.00, Holafly €90.50. Nomad's alternative is 20 GB for $37.
We publish this table knowing how it reads: on a trip of 3 to 10 days, Nomad costs less than we do and gives more data per day. If price and volume are your two criteria, it is the better buy on those durations, and we would rather tell you so than have you feel misled later.
A worked example: one week, two travellers
Take a couple spending seven days between Cairo and Luxor. With Nomad, one unlimited plan each is €24.00 per person in its euro data, €48.00 for two. With us it is €33.00 each, €66.00 for two. The difference is €18.00 over the week. If the two of them share one plan by hotspot instead, the gap is €9.00, and Nomad's 2 GB a day goes further between two phones than our 1 GB. What that sum does not buy with Nomad is the third network, and the ability to hand the second traveller a QR code without asking them to install an app.
Installing and starting a Nomad eSIM
Nomad's page describes three steps: install the eSIM by scanning the QR code, which needs an internet connection; the plan starts automatically once connected to the destination network; then turn the line on and enable data roaming. Its FAQ says the QR code is provided “via in-app instruction and email”.
One detail differs from most sellers and deserves attention: the page says to activate the plan within 60 days of the purchase date, after which “it will automatically activate and start the expiry”. In other words, a Nomad eSIM bought more than two months before departure would start counting before you travel. With a holiday booked months ahead, buy it closer to the date.
With us, the plan starts at the first connection to an Egyptian network, and installing it at home does not start it. We recommend installing a few days before leaving, on Wi-Fi: the step-by-step guide applies to any seller's eSIM.
What we could not verify about Nomad
- Its refund terms. The page links to a refund policy for data plans. We did not read it and state nothing about it. Read it before buying if a refund matters to you.
- Whether an account is compulsory to buy. The page shows a sign-in and an app. We did not go through the purchase.
- Real speeds in Egypt. We have not tested a Nomad eSIM in Egypt. The reviews quoted on its page that name a place name other countries.
- The euro amount charged. As explained above, it is the figure in the page's data, not one we saw on a payment page.
The same caveat for every eSIM in Egypt: calls over apps
Whichever seller you choose, voice and video calls over apps such as WhatsApp are restricted in Egypt and do not always connect. Messages, voice notes and photos work. This is a matter of Egyptian rules, not of the eSIM brand. We set out what is documented in does WhatsApp calling work in Egypt.
Who should choose Nomad, and who should not
- A trip of 3 to 10 days, price first: Nomad. It is the cheapest unlimited plan in euros on those durations.
- You use more than 1 GB a day: Nomad, Airalo or Saily rather than us.
- You only need a little data: a Nomad fixed pack. We do not sell one.
- One day in Egypt, a stopover, a cruise call: not Nomad, which has no one-day unlimited plan. Ours costs €6.50. See what to buy for a 24-hour stopover.
- Two weeks or a month with unlimited data: not Nomad. Compare Saily, Airalo, us and Holafly in the table above.
- A route through the desert, inner Sinai or a Nile cruise: us, for three networks. See our plans.
- You do not want an app, or you are buying for someone else: us. The QR code arrives by e-mail and that is all there is.
- You booked months ahead and want to buy now: mind Nomad's 60-day rule.
For the other brands, see our pages on Airalo, Holafly and Saily, and the full comparison.
